MITMondays: Rae Sremmurd is Shaking Things Up

Last week Rae Sremmurd, Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi each dropped a track. As mentioned before their upcoming project will be a three disc album. One disc will be a solo Swae Lee project, the other will be a solo Slim Jxmmi project, and lastly there will be a Rae Sremmurd project. This is very interesting to me because there have been rumors of solo projects and now we are seeing them along with a Rae Sremmurd album. The order of the list hasn’t been released but the order of the disc has to be correct in order for this to work in their favor.

The three tracks were all released on the same day. The first track I heard was PowerGlide. This is the Rae Sremmurd track but it feature Juicy J. Whenever Rae Sremmurd teams up with Juicy J it’s a hit. PowerGlide is a sample from the Three 6 Mafia song “Side 2 Side” so it’s only right Juicy J is on it. The song is definitely more upbeat than the original but I still enjoyed it. Swae Lee showcased all his skills from rapping, singing and providing a great hook as always. Slim Jxmmi comes and with the energy per usual and Juicy J add his own flair to it as well. The only knock I have on this song is that it is a little too long but other than that I really enjoyed the song.

The next track was Hurt to Look. It’s funny because the song features Rae Sremmurd. Swae Lee said that he had several songs like Unforgettable in the clip and I believe that this is the one. This is definitely a midday summer jam. Listening to this song reminded me how talented this man Swae Lee is. He really made a feel good song about heartbreak. Lastly, Slim Jxmmi dropped the high energy track Brxnks Truck also featuring Rae Sremmurd. I think its dope that even though the two released solo efforts they still have each other on the tracks. Brxnks Truck is the prototypical Slim Jxmmi song and I hope he keeps the same energy on his disc of the project.

All-in-All, these recent releases have me anticipating the new album. Rae Sremmurd also released a track called T’d Up early in February and it was dope as well. I pray that the SremmLife crew doesn’t disappoint. As Always…
