Dope Music Village - You're Welcome (album stream)
It's been quite the journey since stumbling across Dope Music Village about 2 years ago. I ran up on Brain Rapp at a Made in the DMV concert he completely destroyed, intrigued by the "white guy" who's performance demanded attention in a room where he was by far the minority. Humbled by the experience, Brain Rapp was down to earth and just excited people were digging the performance. Fast forward a couple weeks and we were blessed with Brain as a featured artist on a SYCE series showcase and once again he stole the show.
About a month later Brain and his crew were putting on a show in Columbia Heights and invited us out. This is where he unleashed Nature Boi who I had no clue even existed at this point. After opening the show with his high energy track Trap-o-Lene, he had everybody's attention. Now I'm STUCK... wondering what other tricks Brain Rapp has up his sleeve. Things went on this way for a while, with us exchanging opportunities and events. During this time we were also introduced to Ezko and the Dope Music Village concept. Ezko is the wild card of the crew, high energy, precision bars, and classic cadences. The Village is all about inclusion and cultivating dopeness, needless to say so far so good.
Next came Brain Rapp and Nature Boi's collab album Elevator Music which was produced entirely by Nature. The project displayed the chemistry the two emcees had cultivated from a long standing friendship and tracks like B.Y.O.B. were alluding to dope to come. Nature Boi later dropped SPRNTRL, produced, written, and mixed by Nature, the project arrived to much anticipation and acclaim. After the release of 2 solid projects the Village went on a tear of major venue performances opening for Jay Rock, Jadakiss and Curren$y.
Now we're here. The debut of Dope Music Village's collaborative project featuring all 3 talented artist, You're Welcome. Well gentlemen we'll start here... THANK YOU! The evolution of these 3 in music and in life has had lead to a stellar project that pushes the boundaries of their range and ability to mesh 3 unique sounds. The project is truly a press play affair. Start to finish, no drop off, but you will experience pivots, specifically in the production realm, that display Nature Boi's ability to keep you on your toes. The back and forth raps Nature and Brain display on Inhale Mary is on par with the best that ever did it, Jada and Styles. Make sure you check out standout tracks Feel It x This Is It, and 5011 featuring SU the Clique. Let us know what you think of the project in the comments below.
