April + Vista - You Are Here EP

April + Vista - You Are Here EP

April + Vista is a musical duo that is carving their own path in the flourishing DMV music scene. The duo released a short EP a few weeks back and I’m a little disappointed to say I was late to the party. The EP entitled , You Are Here, is eight tracks and eighteen minutes long, but they find a way to do more with less. There is no wasted space on this project, each song is short sweet and straight to the point. One thing I love about the duo is that everything is done in house. Every musical note played throughout the project was done by either April or Vista. I also enjoyed April’s voice throughout the project. Her voice just really draws you in and it is easy to get lost within it. The standout track from the album has to be How To Get By. The guitar on How to Get By is honestly my favorite thing from the album in regards to instrumentation. It is so simple but very appealing. I also like how it’s used a transition into a beat drop. April goes on to drops some gems on the project in the form of subtle reminders such as “Darkness grows from the smallest of things”, and “The ugliest things come in packages grand”.

I thoroughly enjoyed this project. It was the phrase “short and sweet” personified. The path which this duo is taking can only lead to a lane of their own. Check out the album for yourself above. As always…
